So we’re building a house…
From July 28th, 2019
We sit at a little bookstore café,
taking shots at “where should we go from here?”
“I’ve always dreamed of building a house. Then get married. Like the old days, you know…”
A listening silence.
“…buy some land, do most of the work ourselves.”
She nods, “I’ve always liked the idea of building like that.”
“Yeah?”
“I think it’s a good plan. I mean, it could take a while to find land, though.”
True. And how long to build a house? I don’t know exactly. I tell her I think it will take about 6 months, probably a year, but maybe less than 6 months. Or something like that.
She smiles. “In any case, we’ll build a house together.”
And so it began.

I collect dreams by the skyfull.
Lia brings them raining down to fill our fertile heart and Life comes shooting up.
We set our Wedding Day for “when the house is done,” which soon became “springtime,” and along the way we learned things about building and houses and getting married and we ended up naming a day in March.
“But is the house going to be done?”
That’s one of those questions that can make you worry or make you wonder.
Worry came on strong, a hard sell. He really tried.
But Wondering showed us beautiful things…
A relationship is like a house.
Created for a purpose.
Costly, hard to build (really hard, they say).
Has more than one side.
A body is a house for your heart.
A marriage is a house for your Heart.
So we’re building a house. And then, when we have time, we’re building a house.
December Highlights…
We broke ground!
We ordered honeybees.
Met some new neighbors (they’re cool).
Made a little progress with Oncor.
Purchased 1800 feet of water pipe.

And ended the year with our foundation poured.

Lia & Lilly tyin’ steel.
Yeah, Joshua went to college. He didn’t like it, either day.
Ransom el Ranchero
Finishing by twilight, firelight, headlights… good night!
Over the next few weeks…
16 tons of Texas Limestone, untouched since The Flood,
settles at Struan.
Other deliveries, 63,ooo lbs of concrete-to-be:
sand and gravel and cement.
Running water.
Robert is starting a weekly QRF Notice.
Oh yeah, wedding planning…

A toast to you, and yours…
May your feet be merry
and your footings solid.
EXTRA special thanks this month to these delighfulest folks…
